Emotional Intelligence in a High School Graduate

I have not known this young man well, but I have admired him for years.  He was recently acknowledged by his school by giving him the opportunity to deliver this graduation speech.  He likened life to an avocado.  It is provocative - not just because of the avocado.  While Alexander doesn't actually reference emotional intelligence, as you read it, see if you can spot two aspects of emotional intelligence - self-awareness and social awareness.

Some of the rest of his story is that he and his family have endured much hardship.  His younger brother lived with autism until his unexpected death a couple of years ago.  My admiration of Alexander was in his love and patience for his brother and how he was content to linger in the background of the extra requirements his brother unassumingly needed from the family.  I am so delighted that Alexander is burgeoning into his own identify.  This dynamic speech he gave is evidence of it!
