Bridging The Generation Gap - Emotional Intelligence and Cross-Generational Temperament

I just finished a Emotional Intelligence Life Coaching appointment with a man in his early twenties.  We focused on his temperament with a Keirsey Temperament Assessment. We had to take a little time exploring some particulars since he "tied" in one area of the sixteen aspects of temperament.  It was exciting to watch him make connections to how he is wired and how that can impact his movement into a career and how he relates to his family.  What a head start he has if he can capture this information now for how he manages himself in his environments in his future.

In contrast I saw a man in his fifties experience the same impact this week.  For the last seven weeks, I have been presenting the 5 parts of the Personal Proclivity Life Management Systems as a part of class I am co-teaching at a local seminary.  One of the men in the class commented last night about how much the same assessment, along the High Performance Pattern has impacted him.  He has shared some stories in class about how he feels a little trapped and maybe even a little victimized about a career re-assignment he will soon be transferred into.  Having interacted with him, I wonder if he had sought out temperament testing sooner, maybe he would have more influence over his life right now.  Perhaps if he had understood sooner how to seek and out create an more flourishing environment for himself through constructing his own High Performance Pattern, he would be less frustrated now.

It was a sobering contrast between two generations discovering the same things.  Both men - one in his early twenties and the  other three decades older -  can still discover more of who they are designed to be.  I am gratified to be part of their discovery.
